Our wonderful Young Company did us proud with their production of 'Age Is Revolting' by Abi Zakarian, directed by Rosie Thackeray. This new contemporary play, exploring how young people view age and their elders, was a part of the National Theatre Connections Festival – a programme that has been running for 30 years and brings together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow.
Our incredible Young Company of 14 – 21 year olds have worked so hard at bringing this production to life alongside a wonderful creative team; director Rosie Thackeray, designer Ellie Cockerill, production and stage manager Jane Mackintosh, deputy stage manager Eda Robson and assistant director Ella Harding. They all absolutely smashed it!!!
"I found NT Connections and the youth company an incredibly supportive environment focused on both uplifting us young performers but also giving emerging artists an opportunity, which was great to see, and work with people who understand where we are in our journey whilst helping us improve as actors, creating a piece of art collaboratively and I'm very glad I was able to be a part of it" - Aine

The play was rehearsed over an intensive 2 weeks during the Easter holidays, in which the cast quickly grew so close as a company and supported each other through the process. During the rehearsals, they pushed their skills of analysing text and discussing what key themes they felt were important. They also worked together to develop differences between their characters, from energetic brought-to-life childhood toys, to dozy (yet cheeky) elders in a care home.
Their hard work and talent blew us away as always and we cannot wait for next year’s festival!
"Being a part of the young company for the second year in a row was an amazing experience to form a little family and perform with my favourite people. It has definitely been a highlight of my year - we're all so talented! I'm so so proud of everyone from our amazing director Rosie, to the entire cast. It was great!" - Ethan

A special shout out to our lovely Fafa who represented Tramshed’s Young Company on BBC Radio London!! Fafa had the wonderful opportunity of speaking on the radio about her experience working on the play and being a part of our Young Company. We could not be prouder!
