Platinum Jubilee: Woolwich Community Festival

A celebration of cultures with live music, interactive works, food and drink @ St George's Garrison Church
A free outdoor community event celebrating the contributions of West Indian, West African and Nepalese communities over the last 70 years, as well as celebrating the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s rich history with the Armed Forces. Located at the historic St George’s Garrison Church, the Festival will feature musical performances, cultural food and drink, interactive workshops and storytelling across different backgrounds and generations.
NOTE, all of these events are FREE, please use the code PLAT22 when booking. You do not need a ticket to attend, but by booking, you let us know you're coming and we'll be able to send you updates on acts and activities, weather and directions.
Thu 2 June, 7:30pm - Platinum Jubilee Festival Launch Concert.
An evening of live music including the Andrews Sisters (Tribute Act) finishing with a Fireworks Burst to celebrate the launch of the Jubilee Weekend and the lighting of the National Beacons.
Fri 3 June, 12pm - Curated by the Caribbean Social Forum
Live concert, family games, craft making, Calypso dancing and light refreshments, along with talks form community elders sharing their memories of 70 years of West Indian people in Greenwich. Featuring music from DJ Oral, Caribbean Steel Pan, Quadrille Dance Workshop, Caribbean Picture Gallery and all day family games.
Sat 4 June, 12pm - Curated by Nigerian Community Greenwich
Afrobeat concert involving local artists playing sounds of Nigerian fuji, highlife, jazz, soul and funk. There will also be loads of family activities celebrating the African contribution to the Commonwealth. With music from DJ Bash, performance from Saxangke Gabriel, a talk about The Queen's visit to Nigeria and BBQ food, with added West African delights.
Sun 5 June, 12pm - Curated by St George’s Garrison Church
The Princess of Wales Regiment and the local Gurkha community (the largest in the UK) will be celebrating the Royal Borough’s rich history as a home for the Armed Forces with live and recorded music, exhibitions and Nepali and English food and refreshments throughout the day. Live music will be provided by the Nepali Band, Steel Band and RAF Cadets Band alongside dance performances and theatre from participants of Tramshed's Reach programme.
