Project Aims
  • to discourage children from jumping to violence as a means of solving problems or as a first recourse in a confrontation scenario
  • to help young people understand and see that violence around them or they observe is not the best example of action for them
  • to explore the idea of remaining in control of your actions when under stress
  • to explore the concept that ‘bigging up’ violence or violent confrontation is no more acceptable than racism, sexism or anti-social behaviour
  • to explore and exemplar various contexts for violence that young people might experience such as domestic violence, the confrontation in the playground, bullying and violence around gang culture
  • to explore alternative approaches to confrontation that avoids violence, that finds a way of ‘stepping back’ of ‘getting out of someone’s face’
  • to give young people tools and a way of thinking that allows them to take the safest route through a situation
