Tue 12th December 2023 - Tue 12th December 2023
Tue 12th Dec | A night of performances by disabled artists
Tramshed and METRO GAD partnership supported by the Prokofiev family
This Disability History Month we are platforming disabled artists in an evening of celebration and challenging perceptions of what it means to live with a disability.
The evening will start with a invitational reception for organisations and individuals who work with and are part of our local disabled communities. The main entertainment programme follows, and general audiences are able to purchase tickets and enjoy performances in music, dance and theatre. Performing companies in the night include:
Reach Theatre Company
Tramshed's theatre company for young adults (aged 18-25) with additional needs.
Everyone should have the opportunity to REACH their full potential. Reach is a term-time drama programme for young adults with SEND to explore and develop their passion for theatre.
A demonstration and insight into ‘Breath Sing’ an NHS respiratory team programme - Breathe Sings aims to improve lung health and wellbeing and to help manage respiratory illness through vocal exercises and group singing
Crosswor(1)ds by SLiDE
Two performers, from their unique perspectives, attempt to discover the rules of the game moving from meticulous planning to improvised chaos and everything in between. Can they make any sense of it and find their place within it? This is a duet performed by Aaron who loves style and William who loves puzzles. They experience life differently and this performance is where their worlds meet. Crosswor(l)ds explores a quest for solutions in an ever-changing world, dealing with themes of agency and identity.
This event is presented in partnership with METRO GAD.
METRO GAD provide advice and information, advocacy and volunteering opportunities for disabled people who live, work or study in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. They are a user-led organisation of disabled people in London.
